Morocco is famous for many, many things, for example the magnificent Atlas Mountains, the exotic souks (markets) of Marrakech and the rich cultural heritage of the Arabic and Berber people. It is perhaps less well known that Morocco has a spectacular Atlantic coastline, with secluded fishing villages, Argan tree orchards, deserted sandy beaches and rocky cliff tops.

Highlights

Your trek will involve you travelling on camels through the stunning scenery of the Moroccan landscape. Brahim and Mohamed run a week long adventure along the Atlantic coast; a relaxed one-week trip that follows coastal paths to the attractive town of Essouira.

Your trip will be led by one of Brahim and Mohamed’s experienced local guides, ably assisted by camp and cook staff, and a caravan of camels to carry your luggage. The adventure ends with some relaxing free time in both Essouira and Marrakech.

What to expect?

Day One: Marrakech

Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be welcomed by your team and then transferred to your hotel, where you can stay overnight.

Day Two: Marrakech - Tafna

The 2nd stage of your adventure will take you from Marrakech to Tafna by coach or Land Rover, via Chichaoua and Ounara. After stopping for lunch, you will continue on through the Haha area, famous for Argan trees and arrive at the fishing port of Tafna where you will meet with your camel-drivers. Your evening will be spent under the stars on the beach, enjoying the atmosphere and sleeping in a bivouac.

Day Three: Tafna - Hamad Saeih

The caravan will set off early, passing over cape Tafelny via the plateau and then it will drop down to the beach of Sidi Hamad Saeih, where the group will pitch tents for the night.

Day Four: Hamad Saeih - Sidi Mbarek

Your 4th day will see you travelling along a coastal route, either along the beach or across the plain above (depending on wind conditions). The camp will be at Marabout Sidi Mbarek.

Day Five: Sidi Mbarek - Sidi Kaouki

Sidi Kaouki is a fishing port and a meeting place for wind-surfers and water sport enthusiasts. You and the team will spend the night camping on the beach there.

Day Six: Sidi Kaouki - Essaouira

You’ll start the day heading toward Sidi Kaouki, passing by a fishing village and the sea caves of Cape Sim. Around Cape Sim make sure to keep an eye out for the town of Essaouira, as it gradually comes into view. You should arrive there in the afternoon, in time to have a well-earned rest and spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day Seven: Essaouira

Your second to last day is going to be in Essaouira, an ancient Portugese fort, where you can have lunch at an authentic quayside restaurant. Here, you can try a wide variety of sea and shellfish, fresh from the ocean. In the afternoon, you can transfer to your hotel in Marrakech.

Day Eight: Marrakech

You can spend your final day as you please, exploring the beautiful environment of Marrakech.
