Berber Village Experience
During the Berber Village Experience you will spend 4 days with the Berber people of the Atlas Mountains. Your journey will start in the beautiful Imnan Valley, with its terraces and small towns set into the hillsides.
Highlights
- Spend 4 days with the Berber people
- Visit the beautiful Imnan Valley
The Berber people are a very ancient people that predate the arrival of the Arabs and Islam. Their lifestyles have grown in harmony with their beautiful, but severe environment. Berber food has kept them strong for the mountains: it consists of breads, soups and barley products in the main - and only the Berbers themselves can make it. Many Berbers make their homes from pise, which is a combination of stone and mud, for their families, which tend to be large. Their marriage celebrations can last up to 7 days and they invite villagers from miles around.
While following the gorges to the Tacht Pass (220m) you will go through the red villages of Imsker, eventually reaching the wonderful Azzenden Valley, covered with snow and facing the mighty Atlas Mountain chain. The amazing Tamsoult waterfall will give you a photo opportunity, should you want it, on your way to the Imlil Valley, where you will stay the night in local gites (if it is summer or warm enough, you may spend the night in a tent).
Remember that you can alter your trek to suit your needs by contacting Brahim and Mohamed and discussing the options available.
The Berber Village Experience is highly recommended for families.
